Julia Fiona Roberts was born in Atlanta on October 28, 1967 to Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts. Julia Fona Roberts is the fourth generation Roberts who reside in Atlanta. At an early age the father of her mother became obsessed by the theatre. When he was an undergraduate at Emory University, he performed on stage in a number of shows in Atlanta. When he joined the Air Force, in 1953 he appeared in an airforce production in Biloxi together with Betty Lou Bredemus. Eric Anthony was their first born. The couple was married in the year. In 1957, the couple quit the Air Force and Walter was enrolled at Tulane University in New Orleans Louisiana. The family relocated in 1960 into Decatur Georgia where Walter began working at Atlanta's Academy Theater and the Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. Walter along with Betty Lou started production in 1964 on the local Saturday morning children's TV show Bum Bum and His Buddies, which they funded themselves. The Actors and Writers Workshop was established in 1964 and lasted for six years. They had Lelisa Billingsley (also called Lisa) as well as Julia (also called Julie) at the time.
